The business was founded in 2004 by Fabio Cannavale and Marco Corradino, who developed and launched Volagratis.com, a pioneer for search engines for low cost flights in the Italian market.

In 2005, we extended our offer to include flights from traditional airlines and integrated our platform with GDS technologies.

In 2006, we moved our headquarters to Chiasso, Switzerland and began our international expansion, launching the Bravofly brand and localised websites in Spain, France, Germany and the UK.

In 2010, we reinforced our top management team with new members from outside the Group. In particular, Francesco Signoretti joined as Chief Executive Officer. In 2010, we also bolstered our shareholding structure, bringing in a pool of investors including AXA Private Equity (renamed to Ardian) and Micheli Associati as minority shareholders.

In 2011, we launched our new website specialised in package holidays, with an innovative approach offering dynamic packages based on considering the search and need patterns of consumers who would usually book with traditional tour operators. We enhanced our range of products by also offering cruises.

In 2012, we acquired Rumbo, a leading Spanish online travel agency and completed a capital increase to partially finance such an acquisition.

In 2013, we acquired Jetcost, a leading travel meta-search provider. Following the Jetcost transaction, the previous owners of Jetcost have become managers and key shareholders of the Group.

On 15 April 2014, the Bravofly Rumbo Group debuted on the SIX Swiss Exchange and raised approximately CHF 105 million from its Initial Public Offering.

In 2015 we acquired lastminute.com, the iconic European brand and we changed our name to lastminute.com group.

In 2016 we launched the new media unit, The Travel People,  to help brands and advertisers reach millions of European travellers through the network of leading online travel brands of the Group. In September it acquired WAYN, the world’s largest social travel network, to boost content offering and audience reach.
